PART
1: MODELING THE OBJECT

STEP 1
Create
a single object and create a morph target for it by clicking the M button
in the lower right of the Modeler window and then choosing New in the
pop up menu.

STEP 2
Scale
the morph target to 0% so all of its points are at the same location.

STEP 3
Create
copies of the object and distribute them how you want.
You can use the Clone or Array tools to do this. You cannot use the Point
Clone Plus tool because it does not preserve the morph target.

STEP 4
Create
a temporary rectangle so the items are not jammed against the edge when
you make the UV map

STEP 5
View
your object morph target.

STEP
6
Create
a UV map. Click on the T button and then choose New from the pop up menu.
In the UV texture dialogue box set Planer mapping to the appropriate axis
and click OK.

STEP
7
View
the UV map. Set one of the viewports to UV Texture view. Your UV texture
should look like a grid of points. The UV map will be used to create the
displacement texture. Since the points for each individual item in the
object share the same point in UV space they will all be displace together.
Delete the temporary rectangle.

STEP 8
Add
a Floor layer to hide the parts of the object that extend below the ground.
